Easy-To-Make Teeth Whitening Home Remedies

In Australia, the average cost of a teeth whitening treatment is around $1,000, and most dentists will also provide a take-home kit at an extra cost.  Due to the hefty fee, teeth whitening treatments are often viewed as a reserve for the rich. The good thing is that you can easily prepare your own treatments with products that you already have in your cabinet. If you have discoloured teeth, you can easily prepare the following whitening remedies in the comfort of your home.

Lemon Juice and Baking Soda

Baking soda or sodium bicarbonate is a mild abrasive that gently scrubs away surface stains, giving your teeth a brilliant and whiter shade. Lemon juice is also a natural lightener. To prepare the solution, mix one tea spoon of sodium bicarbonate with a drop of lemon juice. Put the mixture on your toothbrush; you can also use the mixture with your regular toothpaste. If you have an acidic mouth or you have eaten acidic foods, you can use baking soda on its own or with your normal toothpaste. It goes a long way to balance the Ph, which is very important because acid tends to break down the teeth enamel.

Salt, Baking Soda Scrub and Strawberries

Strawberries contain a lot of vitamin C, which is effective in breaking plaque down, and plaque causes teeth discoloration. They also contain an enzyme known as malic acid which helps to clear surface stains. The salt acts as a mild abrasive and scrubs away stains. Baking soda and salt achieve similar results, and you can opt to use either one of them. To prepare the mixture, crush one strawberry and mix it with a pinch of salt or baking soda. Coat the mixture onto your toothbrush and allow it to stay for no more than 5 minutes. Brush your teeth with regular toothpaste and rinse thoroughly.

Baking Soda and Vinegar

Vinegar kills bacteria thus preventing the build-up of tartar, also known as calculus. Brushing your teeth regularly with vinegar prevents the risk of getting gingivitis, which is one of the major causes of tooth decay. To prepare the solution, dissolve sodium bicarbonate and add several drops of white vinegar and a pinch of salt. Apply the solution on your tooth brush and brush as normal for about two minutes. You can use normal toothpaste to help remove the taste of vinegar.

Usage

These home remedies can be used once each day until you achieve the desired results.
